Happy 4th of July
I always take a moment on this holiday to think of the men and women, past and present, who have laid down their lives in the name of freedom. I'm quite proud that the main purpose of my job is to make the lives of our servicemembers a little easier when they are away from home. I've had the chance to go to Iraq to see first hand the sacrifices they are making. And I couldn't be prouder to be an American when I see their heart and soul in their commitment. So take a moment today in between hot dogs or drinks to say thanks in your own way.

Holiday weekends and illness go hand in hand
It certainly seems when it's a holiday weekend, someone in the house is sick. So no surprise that 4th of July has both K (baby boy) and me with a summer cold of some kind. We both are running low grade fevers. I've got an awful sore throat. I suspect the boy does too, but he obviously can't tell us. He also has a troublesome cough. I had myself tested for strep, just in case but all clear.
But we all know motherhood still calls even when we don't feel well. So it will be a fun 3 days of entertaining the kids. Did I mention it's supposed to rain all weekend too? I'm open to any arts and craft suggestions you might have! Hoping to make a 4th of july cake with the girl, M and do lots of coloring. But something for the boy has me a bit stumped.

Welcome
Welcome to my blog. I've been debating for some time about starting a blog. Like many I debated what I could off to the noise. As a working mother of two, I feel I've learned a lot about motherhood. The biggest lesson is right in the name of my blog-it's all just my kids' world, I'm just living in it. I hope here others can learn, maybe laugh from time to time. I'm also a big shopper-one of those people that always finds a good deal. So maybe you'll really get something useful from this blog.
So a little more about me: I have a 3 year old daughter who, for privacy reasons, I'll call M and a 15 month old boy I'll call K. I work full time creating tv and radio marketing commercials. I have a wonderful husband, who is like most men, forgetful and part deaf. We'll just call him H. Like many mothers these days, I'm stuck in a crossroads where I'm a modern mama, but I'm drawn to a lot of the granola ways of motherhood. I'm a big supporter of breastfeeding, though I physically was not able to. I try to give my children whole grain, organic food but with 2 working parents, that's not always possible. I try to provide my children with natural toys, though we give in to their demands to the china made toys from time to time.
I hope I can bring up my children to have an appreciation for this earth, compassion towards others, love of family, passion for life and drive to reach whatever dream they have for themselves.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
